Kylie Cosmetic Favourites

As someone who has buying Kylie Lipkit's since she first released them, I realised that I'd never done any type of post about them on here. And so I thought I would share with you all what my favourite shades are currently, and what I think of the lipkits in general as I know there has been a lot of mixed reviews floating around the internet!

The very first shade I bought was Candy K and still to this day it is probably my most loved and worn shade, it's just so easy to wear with pretty much any makeup look! I find that if you're looking for a pink based nude, then this is the one to get, personally for me being so fair, finding a nude that looks good is difficult but with this have the pinky tones to it, it makes it so easy to wear! I can wear this on a day to day basis or for a more full on look, as I think that it compliments a lot of makeup looks from a simple winged liner or a blown out smokey eye!

Throughout the end of summer last year, all I wore on my lips was the shade Kristen and I bought this one as soon as it was released and I'm so glad I did! This is a lovely deep pink strawberry shade and I love wearing this with minimal makeup because it can be used as a statement lip. I'm someone who loves to wear a red lip in the colder months and so this is the perfect option for me in the warmer months, and it means you can wear less makeup while looking like I've made an effort! I also think that this is a perfect shade for all complexions and so would highly recommend this one to everyone!

As someone who likes to wear a lot of warm browns and oranges on my eyes, I've found that I reach for the shade Ginger a lot as it seems to compliment these warm tones. Again this is a colour that can easily be worn on it's own as a statement lip, but I do tend to reach for this one more when I have a more warm tone to my eye look, as I feel like it just brings it altogether! This is definitely a colour I would recommend for all complexions, because on me its a very stand out lip that some people wouldn't find as easy to wear but on darker complexions, it would be a really nice lighter shade with a hint of peach to it almost!

The last favourite is the shade Love Bite and  I find that this is one that I reach for on occasions more than day to day basis, as you really don't have to try too much or can you wear tones that match if you are someone who likes to go full glam! I love this shade because although it is another purple, it's a beautiful mauve purple and not just the stereotypical purple. And as far as purple shades go, I do find that this is an easy one to wear because of its muted, more dusky tones, and again this is one that would look gorgeous on all complexions, so if you're someone who enjoys these tones or just likes a more bold and out there lip colour, I'd highly recommend trying this one!

I do really want to invest in her lip glosses next, as I'm someone who rarely reaches for glosses, but with Candy K being a favourite shade, I would love to know what the gloss version is like! How many of you have tried products from Kylie Cosmetics, and what are your thoughts? I'd love to know if we have similar favourites!

Getting into Pinks and Nudes

In previous posts, I've always said how I would usually steer clear of pink and nude lipsticks just because I never really felt like they suited me. But just recently I've been stepping out of this comfort zone and so I thought I would share them all with you!

I'm someone who will use a lip liner almost every time I wear lipstick, and I think this is because it makes it last so much longer on the lips but it's helpful for when wearing darker colours because you have the outline instead of going straight in with the bullet! The two lip liners that I tend to use the most are East End Snob by Rimmel and Whirl by MAC. I find that I can wear both of these shades on their own as well as under lipsticks, East End Snob is a dusty pink and I find that this can be used under pretty much any pink lipstick and works well! For the price of this lip liner, it is well worth picking up, it's so easy to wear, and the formula is so creamy on the lips but still lasts so well! This has also been rumoured as a dupe for one of the Charlotte Tilbury lip liners, what's not convincing you to pick it up?! Then there is Whirl which is a a dirty rose colour and on me, it works so well as a "my lips but better" shade and so I do use this a lot! I find that it works well with both nude and pink lipsticks, and would say that is a must have lip liner for those of you who like to wear the muted pinks and dirty rose type colours!

There's a couple of MAC lipsticks that I can use as everyday shades and I find that these two are shades that are spoken about highly in the beauty community. The first one is Velvet Teddy which for ages was so difficult to find in any MAC store, and this is a deep beige toned lipstick that I find can dress any look up, I wear this both as an everyday lipstick and as an evening lipstick because it works so well with a lot of different makeup looks, and I would probably have to say that it is one of my favourite nude lipsticks to wear! The other shade from MAC is Brave which when I first starting wearing this was strange for me, because I'm someone who tends to wear matte finish lipsticks all the time, and this lipstick has a satin finish to it, but this is ridiculously easy to wear and feels so comfortable on the lips! This shade also holds some beige tone to it, but it is a lot more pink than Velvet Teddy, and I find that when I use this with the Whirl lip liner, it really is a 'mlbb' look, and it looks lovely for everyday makeup!

I think the lipstick that started off the pink and nude wearing for me personally is the lipstick Resist from Illamasqua and this is a brand that I haven't tried anything else from but when I saw this lipstick in their sale I couldn't resist - no pun intended - and so immediately picked it up! I would describe this is a wearable brighter pink and again is a rosey toned pink rather than fuchsia pink, and this is another matte lipstick and I do find that this can be a little bit drying on the lips if I wear it for a long period of time but that is probably due to the formula!

The next two lipsticks are both from Gerard Cosmetics and they are in the shades Buttercup and Rodeo Drivewhich are both extremely wearable shades, that are non drying on the lips and have a pretty good longevity on the lips! Rodeo Drive is a shade that is pretty similar to the Illamasqua one, except a little bit darker and has more of a purple undertone to it, and this is one that I think would look good on anyone. Whereas Buttercup is a lot more of a nude shade with pink undertones to it and when applied to the lips it looks quite sheer due to the creamy formulation, and so I tend to use this one with a lipliner to make the lipstick more opaque.

The final lipstick that I used all the time when I first bought it is the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet in the shade Nude-ist and I love these because they have a little doe foot applicator which makes them so easy to apply with or without a lipliner, and the opacity of these is unreal! I find that I only need one layer and the jobs done, these are technically a liquid lpstick and this shade in particular dries to a semi matte finish which I love and because of the finish, I tend to find that it lasts all day on my lips which I'm not complaining about however they can be quite drying which is the only downside! This shade in particular is pretty much Rodeo Drive in a liquid lipstick with a more matte finish to it.

I hope this was helpful to anyone wanting to try out more nude or pink lipsticks and if you have any reccomendations for other lipsticks that are similar to these, please let me know in the comments!

All the Berries

You know it's Autumn when its acceptable to rock that dark lip or smokey eye without being in a club and as we go into the colder months, I find myself wearing far too many berry shades, not just beauty products but some fashion items as well and so I thought why not share with you all the berry items I have been loving!

Just recently I have found myself wanting to wear a lot more purple and berry tones on my eyes which is a little different from my usual neutrals that I find to be a safe place as far as eye makeup is concerned. But what is a change in season without a change in makeup? And so I've been reaching for my Morphe Jaclyn Hill Favourites palette and to be specific, the bottom two rows have been what I've been using more than anything. This palette was limited edition but the shadows can all be bought separately from Morphe, and a few shades I would recommend are 24, 74, 11, 48, 68 and 71 but I love these shadows because they are so pigmented and easy to blend out! But I feel like with palettes that contain such a wide variety of shadows, can you really go far wrong?

Another palette I have been using is the MAC Burgundy x9, which as the name suggests contains nine shadows all based around the burgundy colour. I love these palettes because they are so small but you do get nine shadows which makes them perfect for travelling or on the go because you can create so many different looks and it won't take up a lot of space. However I must admit I do find that these shadows aren't as pigmented and easy to blend as the regular size shadows but it's only a little bit of extra effort which I really don't mind! The shade range in this palette is also a positive and I found that a lot of the shades were ones I was thinking about purchasing anyway and so it was a cheaper alternative to buying the individual shadows.

Staying with the theme of eyeshadow, I have been using the Kiko Long Lasting Shadow Stick in shade 37 as a base for some of the berry toned looks I've been wearing.I love this shadow stick because it is a true burgundy colour but I find that it doesn't crease at all during the day and it's one of those products that you can just chuck on blend out and wear alone if you wanted to! And for a shadow that looks shimmery in the stick, I have to say that when it's on the lid, it isn't chunky glitter, it is shimmery more than anything and if layered up and made completely opaque, it looks almost like a foiled shadow! But I find that shadow sticks are always handy for throwing in your makeup bag as well, and since trying this one from Kiko I feel the need to own more!

The last eyeshadow I have been wearing a lot is from Makeup Geek and its the shade Bitten which is a matte deep purple with red undertones to it, and I like to use this mostly in my crease and outer v to really deepen up the eyes, but this is a shade that could be worn on the lid if you wanted a really dark purple look! I also find that when I'm doing a more smoked out look, this is a shadow that can be used on the bottom lash line but is also a shadow that is so easy to blend out without it looking too much! But I would highly recommend all Makeup Geek shadows because they are crazy good quality for the small price tag!

If you're not into the whole berry toned look for the eyelids, then I also have a lot of things that you could use for the lips to make yourself look autumnal! Personally I find that when working with darker or bold lipsticks, that I always want to use a lipliner, and so I have two different ones that I tend to use for most of the lipsticks that I'm going to mention. The first one is a MAC Lipliner in the shade Nightmoth, which is pretty intense and dark lipliner for the deeper berry shades, however I do find that this lipliner all over the lips with the Rimmel 107 lipstick on top looks really nice because you have the deep purple mixed with the more red toned purple on top!

Another lipliner I like to use which also isn't as pricey, is the Maybelline Colour Sensational Lipliner in the shade Midnight Plum which is a lot more berry toned and lighter in colour, and I find that this lipliner looks good on it's own as well as under lipsticks! I like to pair this lipstick with the Gerard Cosmetics lipstick in the shade Berry Smoothie which as the name suggests is a berry toned lipstick that is very wearable, and this is one that I would recommend to anyone who wants to start wearing darker or bolder lipsticks because it's easy to wear and isn't too in your face if you're not too used to wearing purple toned lipsticks!

A new lipstick that I have recently added to my collection is the Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in the shade Black Cherry, and this is a dark lipstick so I would only recommend this is if you are someone who is used to wearing dark purples otherwise this could be too much! I have seen this been compared to the Charlotte Tilbury Glastonberry lipstick and if you are looking for a cheaper alternative, I would recommend picking this up! The only downside to this lipstick is that you do have to keep it topped up uring the day as it does have a tendency to wear off quicker than a higher end lipstick would but this is only to be expected by a drugstore lipstick!

The final lipstick that I have to talk about is the Maybelline Colour Drama Lipstick in the shade Berry Mulch, and I love these lipsticks, I think I now have four shades and they are lipsticks that are so easy to use because of the pencil shape that they are in. I find that I can use this lipsticks to line my lips as well as fill them in and even the darker shades wear pretty well for the price they are! Berry Mulch is a beautiful shade, and it is a true berry which isn't too dark and I also find that these lipsticks are so hydrating even after wearing them for a full day!

More From Gerard Cosmetics

Back in January, I posted about my first Gerard Cosmetics order, and since then, I did decide to order some more! Plus, there are loads of new colours so it gave me a good enough reason to spend some money and so I thought I'd share what shades I picked up with you all!

There was recently a coupon code that Gerard Cosmetics were sharing on their instagram to get $45 off your order (this may or may not still be valid) and so I thought I'd take advantage of that and pick up the bundle of five lipsticks! I ended up getting free shipping to the UK and it ended up costing me around £35 for everything and I didn't get hit with custom charges, so I was very pleased with that!

Just recently I've been wanting to branch out with lipstick colours, as I'm someone who will wear a red or purple but feel uncomfortable wearing a pink which is a little crazy and so I decided to order some out of my comfort zone shades which included a few pinks, a nude shade as well as a grey toned pink which I fell in love with on the website!

Kimchi Doll: this is a shade created by Sophia Chang and is described as the perfect baby doll pink and peach cross which I really do agree with! I do think that this is a shade which some people could find to be too light and on me I must admit it's more of a peach shade but still beautiful! This is a shade that would be great for everyday wear just because it isn't over the top and it will go with almost any makeup look and so if you're into peachy pink nudes then this one is definitely one for you!

Buttercup: hands down, my new favourite my lips but better shade! I'm not usually a lover of lipsticks that aren't matte but I love this, because it's one that you can really build the colour up on and I find that I can use this on an everyday basis and if applied in a sheer layer, it wouldn't even look like I had lipstick on! So for all of you out there, who want something that isn't highly visible on the lips, but also need a pop of colour, this is the one!

swatches top to bottom: Kimchi Doll, Buttercup, Berry Smoothie, Rodeo Drive and Underground
Berry Smoothie: if I had to pick one of these as something that I would usually go to, it would most probably be this one. And true to it's name, the colour is really like a berry smoothie! It's a pink that isn't too light and a shade that I can really see myself liking, I'm sure that this is a lipstick that will come up a lot in different makeup looks!

Rodeo Drive: this is a true rosy pink shade which I think anyone would find easy to wear because it's one that you really can't go wrong with! And one that looks beautiful with a muted pink eye look but could work with almost any makeup look! A starter shade for those who are beginning to wear makeup or just lipstick in general and are unsure of what shades to look into!

Underground: I was so excited about this shade, as I had been lusting after some kind of grey toned lipstick, and once I saw this grey toned pink, I knew that I needed to have it! I must admit that when swatched, this lipstick shade is very deceiving as it has almost a brown undertone to it, and on the lips, it really does have that cool greyness to it! This really is a daring shade and one that's probably out of a lot of comfort zones but I think it's a very pretty shade at the same time!

All of the Gerard Cosmetics lipsticks are so creamy in texture even if they do have a slightly matte finish to them, and I think this is what makes them so comfortable to wear! I do find that they need touching up every now and then but for most of the shades, reapplication is so simple because of the wearable shades that you can't go wrong with! I really would recommend these lipsticks especially as they don't cost too much and shipping isn't expensive considering this is an American company.

Gerard Cosmetics

I was late on the hype with this one, but after seeing so much positive feedback on the Gerard Cosmetics lipstick, particularly the shade 1995, I made a long overdue order from said company! I hadn't heard anything about any of their other products besides the lip glosses and being someone who isn't a fan of lip glosses, I decided that I could skip that one and so I went ahead and just ordered three lipsticks! These lipsticks are incredible, I can't deny it and I can see what the hype is all about now I've tried them out!

I picked up the shade 1995 which seems to be a lot of people's go to for a 90's shade or something that is very similar to the darker nude that Kylie Jenner has been seen wearing alot! I'm sure there are a ton of reviews on this shade though!

I also got Nude which as the name suggests is a nude colour and I always find that being such a pale person, I find it difficult to wear nudes and this is one that isn't too dark or too light, I just don't feel comfortable in nude lipsticks!

And lastly, Fire Engine which is one of the nicest red shades I own, it really does remind me of a fire engine and I think that this is a wearable red due to it not being a little lighter in colour compared with some other red lipsticks!

I'd say that all these lipsticks feel matte on the lips but I've found that they aren't too drying and if you want something that'll be long wearing, these will be your guys!

Have any of you tried anything from Gerard Cosmetics, what were your thoughts?
